For a few dollars you get a new Castlevania adventure with a retro 2D style reminiscent of the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis versions of Castlevania. Fans of the old school NES games like Simon’s Quest will get a kick out of the style and gameplay. Amazing synthesizer music with an old school feel pumps through the speakers as you waste eyeballs and skeletons with a whip while moving through the castle. From Konami, Castlevania Rebirth is a cool remake of the Castlevania games that should make fans of the series happy. Now it’s time to whip some eyeball jellyfish! @zedrein18 Well, better the Moon than the Sun. And I am very surprised that such a great shmup didn’t become a huge franchise like Gradius or Thunder Force did. (The last game I know of in the Area 88 franchise, Carrier Air Wing, came out in 1990. There is an anime/manga based on Area 88 though.)

I like Super Castlevania IV the best because you can whip in 8 directions. It’s a really cool game.

i tried to like this game series, but i couldn’t get into it…. like Dragon Quest.
Konami copyrighted the names ‘Salamander (i.e. Life Force) Rebirth’ and ‘Jackal Rebirth’ a while back. Let’s hope they use them for something. The Rebirth games I’ve played so far are awesome.

I don’t see how it didn’t provide information. He spent a lot of time being off-topic, and talking about retro-remakes in general, but he also talked about how it was an enjoyable Castlevania game that plays in the style of the 8/16-Bit Castlevanias. I don’t see what more you could ask for, especially with a video of the game playing through the entire review.

In a sense i guess a review can be some sort of opinion on the game, if that opinion provides information to the game. and this hardly does.

If you want more ‘traditional’ reviews, you probably want metacritic or something.

Im not gonna blow things out of proportion, im not gonna start saying ignorant rude things for no reason. this “review” hardly provides information on the game itself.
he talks about things throughout this video that are not very helpful to someone trying to learn about this game specifically.

This is not a review, reviewing a game is providing information relative to the game, and speaking about what pro’s and con’s there are to the game, not talking about things that have nothing to do with the game, and giving thoughts on what you prefer. which is what he’s doing.
Great video, Mark. By the way, Virtual console is downloadable games that came from other platforms (NES, SNES, GEN). WiiWare is for brand new original titles or ideas. This game would count as WiiWare
